World's Shortest Horse: 21-Inch Therapy Pony Pumuckel Enters Guinness World Records

The World’s Shortest Living Horse — A 21-Inch Therapy Star Melting Hearts in Germany

In a heartwarming story that feels straight out of a fairy tale, Germany is now home to the world’s shortest living horse, officially confirmed by Guinness World Records. Standing at just 21.1 inches tall, the tiny therapy horse named Pumuckel is capturing global attention — and hearts.

A Horse So Small, It Shocked Even His Owner

Pumuckel was adopted in 2020 by Carola Weidemann when he was only 5 months old and a mere 18 inches tall.
Weidemann describes their first meeting as unforgettable:

“I was truly shocked. I had never seen such a tiny horse before.”

Yet despite his small size, Pumuckel’s personality was anything but small. Playful, affectionate, and energetic — the little horse instantly won her heart.

Officially the Shortest Living Male Horse

Guinness World Records verified Pumuckel’s height at 21.1 inches (53.5 cm) at the withers, making him the shortest living male horse on Earth — beating the previous record-holder by more than an inch.

A Therapy Horse Bringing Joy Everywhere

Pumuckel isn’t just famous for his size — he’s adored for his heart.
He works as a therapy horse, regularly visiting:

  • Nursing homes

  • Hospices

  • Schools

  • Disability care centers

His gentle nature and love for cuddles make him a perfect emotional companion.
Weidemann says:

“He has an incredibly lovable character. He loves children, being scratched, cuddled, and being the center of attention.”

A Tiny Horse With a Big Mission

Despite being smaller than many dogs, Pumuckel has a huge impact.
He helps people cope with stress, loneliness, and trauma by simply being present — offering warmth, comfort, and smiles wherever he goes.

His story proves that size doesn’t define greatness — heart does.
