$250K and Up: Startup Begins Taking Reservations for World’s First Moon Hotel

Want to Book a Hotel on the Moon? This Startup Is Taking $250K Deposits

Imagine waking up to a view of Earth rising over the Moon’s horizon. What once felt like science fiction is now inching closer to reality.

A California-based space startup, GRU Space (Galactic Resource Utilization), has announced plans to build the world’s first hotel on the Moon—and they’re already accepting deposits from future guests. If all goes according to plan, the lunar hotel could welcome its first visitors by 2032.

A Moon Hotel Is No Longer Science Fiction

GRU Space is targeting wealthy adventure travelers who want to go beyond traditional space tourism. The company has opened applications for its proposed Moon hotel, asking selected candidates to place a deposit between $250,000 and $1 million. The final cost of a stay? Expected to exceed $10 million.

This bold move signals that space tourism is entering a new era, one where vacations might take place off Earth.

Who Is Behind GRU Space?

GRU Space was founded in 2024 by 22-year-old entrepreneur Skyler Chan. Despite being a newcomer, the company has already attracted attention—and funding—from investors connected to SpaceX and Anduril, two major names in the aerospace and defense world.

Chan believes that space tourism can help fuel a future lunar economy and accelerate human expansion beyond Earth.

“We live during an inflection point where we can actually become interplanetary before we die,” Chan said.

How Will the Moon Hotel Be Built?

GRU Space has laid out a three-phase plan to make its lunar hotel a reality:

 Phase 1: Technology Testing (2029)

  • Launch via NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS)

  • Deploy inflatable structures on the Moon

  • Test turning lunar regolith (Moon dust) into bricks

Phase 2: Protected Lunar Habitat

  • Set up inflatable structures inside lunar pits

  • Use Moon-made bricks for radiation and temperature protection

  • Benefit from warmer and more stable underground environments

Phase 3: The First Moon Hotel (2032)

  • A larger inflatable hotel manufactured on Earth

  • Capacity for four guests at a time

  • Gradual expansion with additional lunar structures

Who Can Apply for the Moon Hotel?

GRU Space is reviewing applications starting this year. Ideal candidates include:

  • Former commercial spaceflight participants

  • Ultra-high-net-worth individuals

  • Extreme adventure seekers

Selected applicants will be asked to place a refundable deposit that will count toward the final booking price.

The Future of Travel Is Off-Planet

While a Moon vacation may seem unreal today, GRU Space believes this is just the beginning.

“If we succeed,” Chan says, “billions of human lives will be born on the Moon and Mars.”

Whether or not you’re ready to put down a six-figure deposit, one thing is clear:

The future of tourism may no longer be limited to Earth.
